NOTES:
Body Belts are no longer acceptable to OSHA as part of a fall protection system as of January 1, 1998.
The following systems listed below are options you will want to consider when choosing proper fall protection/fall restraint for elevated order pickers:
Option One:
A full body harness combined with a very short or adjustable length lanyard to create a fall restraint system. Please note this will require you to specify the right length of lanyard for the height of your operators and the position of each lift's anchor point. One lanyard will not fit all people and applications; you may have to use several lengths depending on the situation. You can also use adjustable lanyards which provide greater flexibility, however many times operators simply adjust them to the maximum length, therefore removing its ability to restrain a fall and defeating the purpose of the system.
Option Two:
Full body harness and a self-retracting life line, be sure if you use this type of lanyard that a fall to a lower level is not possible.
We do not recommend using shock absorbing lanyards for Elevated Order Pickers since there is a chance of falling to a lower level, which is prohibited by OHSA when picking at most heights.
We do not supply fall protection of any type for Aerial Work Platforms, contact your local Aerial Work Platform dealer or the manufacturer of the Aerial Work Platform for more details.
